Meet the Founder: Dani Boyce, BSN, RN

My philosophy as a Childcare health trainer:

I believe learning that leads to change in our every day behaviors happens best when it comes up naturally in real-life situations. I have been a Childcare Health Nurse Consultant since 2019 while I worked as a School Nurse in the Issaquah School District. My favorite part of my job as a Childcare Health Nurse and School Nurse is the individual connections I make with students, teachers, staff, and family members. Training is something that can come up in every interaction and when someone individually shares with us the importance of the”why” behind a practice, we remember and know the importance of it. In my formal training sessions I incorporate experiences my trainees have had in their work life and we will role-play situations. I also love to use anything we can see like hand washing gel with a black light to see the effectiveness of washing hands. I share the “why” behind why we do something. I share songs that can be used to help teach students and remember concepts. I also use games to entice motivation in remembering traditionally boring aspects of compliance.

My role as a Childcare Health Nurse Consultant:

My role as a Childcare Health Nurse Consultant is to consult infant teachers and school administrators on aspects that affect health of infants. I educate my teachers on emergent community topics (measles and pertussis cases) and whatever I observe in the classroom. I have led trainings for preschool staff on hand washing, cleaning practices, food safety and developmental milestones. Monthly I ask similar questions of all my infant rooms, any sickness, cleaning procedures, health conditions, nutrition, development. Whatever comes up during the visit I provide follow up resources and educate during my visit.
